Reasons Why I Blog (and Why It Matters)
In building this website, I wrestled with the classic question: to blog or not to blog?
I’ve read countless opinions—why to blog, how to blog, and what benefits blogging brings. I’ve asked friends (and even exhausted a few of them) whether I should take the leap. In the end, I decided to blog my way: the way I’d talk with a friend or a client in session.
My writing is about more than listing accomplishments—it’s about showing who I am, flaws and all.
Writing with Authenticity
The truth is, I’m an imperfect human being just like you.
I’ve experienced hurt, disappointment, and moments of questioning my worth—yes, even as a therapist and as the mom of a college freshman. Each day I choose: Do I give into the weight of emotions, or do I trust the bigger picture of who I am and what I stand for?
Do I make mistakes? Absolutely. Do I sometimes question my decisions? Definitely. Just ask my best friends (though they’re sworn to secrecy about the stories we still laugh over decades later).
The Power of Growth Through Imperfection
No matter who you are, you’ll face successes and failures. The key is deciding what to do with them. Will they drag you down, or will they push you to grow?
I blog because I’m passionate about partnering with individuals as they become the person they were created to be—someone capable of making a powerful impact on those around them.
Finding Joy Along the Way
Personal growth can be painful at times, but it can also hold joy, humor, and even fun. Life doesn’t always need to be heavy, overly serious, or analytical.
There are teachable moments in everyday life—sometimes hidden inside annoyances, sometimes disguised as silly stories. My therapy style often uses tangible analogies, and you’ll find that in my blogs too—alongside humorous moments to remind you that you’re not alone.
Why Mondays Matter
That’s why I’m showing up weekly. My Monday morning blog is a chance to connect before the week begins, to share reflections and laughter, and to remind us both that life is meant to be lived fully—even imperfectly.
Looking forward to spending this time together.
Melissa
